Love, laugh, Live Rite

LANSERIA – Local resident shares why she wrote her own manual to life.

Even though gardener and author, Sue Frye, wrote the Live Rite Programme 25 years ago, she still believes everyone can overcome their own circumstances and realise their full potential.

The programme aims to assist those with a poor self-image realise their potential, overcome abuse and banish addictive habits. Frye wrote the programme after she attended a talk by Mary Anne Shearer, who now runs a health and wellness clinic in Gordon’s Bay.

“I originally wrote it about 25 years ago but I keep updating it. The programme is mainly my research with advice from a nursing colleague; and Mary Anne Shearer encouraged me. It was a course written out of ‘need’ as I was in a bad place and couldn’t find the right advice, except at a great price,” Frye said.

Frye began implementing Shearer’s teachings in her life and eventually created the programme from her experience to help others.

She shared the most important topics of the programme, which she feels are good life lessons and something everyone has to face.

She recommends the following:

  • Overcome all your negativity and poor self-image
  •  Become proud of who you are
  •  Learn to live a healthier lifestyle without diets
  •  Realise that you are not alone – there are many others going through similar circumstances
  •  Do not drown when help is available.

Frye explained that individuals commonly have misconceptions about seeking help. She commented that individuals suffer from ‘poor me’ syndrome thinking that no one could help them when there are many others who are able to ‘apply a band aid’ and give help and support.

Additionally, individuals claim they will feel better the next day or don’t have time to get help. According to Frye, this is a big mistake as everyone should make time for themselves to find their importance and become a better person, wife, husband, mother or father.

Frye’s passion for people pushes her to continue helping people through the Live Rite Programme, even at the age of 70. The five-week course is R300 per week or R1 500 up front.
