GALLERY: Chinese army is marching to Silverstar

MULDERSDRIFT - Members of the public are in for an educational treat at Silverstar Casino.

The army is marching to Silverstar Casino. For the very first time, The Terracotta Army and the First Emperor of China exhibition will be at the casino to entertain not only adults and history lovers but school children as well.

The exhibition boasts over 300 life-sized reproductions of statues, chariots and weapons. It is believed that the first emperor of China had over 8 000 statues made to protect him in his afterlife. The broken statues were discovered over 2 200 years ago in his tomb. Joburg and West Rand media had a chance to catch a glimpse of this incredible exhibition before it was open to the public.

A Chinese buffet lunch and Chinese music set the tone for what was about to be seen in the Globe of Silverstar. Shane Collinson, director of operations and complex general manager at Silverstar Casino said that they are excited to partner with Expo RSA to bring this exciting expo to the public. The statues that were made with detailed precision were shipped to South Africa for the very first time.

Not only is the exhibit a feast for the eyes, it is educational. Audio recorders were handed out with pre-recordings providing a short history lesson.

The statues made one forget for a moment that South Africa is just outside the door of Silverstar Casino. This educational exhibition can be seen from 15 June to 24 August.
