With the long weekend finally here, lots of entertainment is available for those who want to let their hair down. Workers will enjoy an extra day off next week as the week is shortened by one day. With lots to do there is no reason to stay indoors as the weekend has many events one can attend. There are also family activities so pack the little ones and bring them along.

Kwesta live at Kong

Catch local Hip-hop artist Kwesta performing songs from his album Dakar II and all your favourite co-labs as well for the first time with a full live band. This is a one-night-only extravaganza be sure to bring your friends along as the Ngudu rapper is sure to entertain throughout the night.

Lusito Land 2016

Lusito Land, Joburg’s hottest family festival is back and promises to be bigger and better this year, with some of the finest South African musicians and bands taking to the stage as well as some of the city’s tastiest Portuguese cuisine that will be sizzling on the grills. Micasa, Dr Victor and the Rasta Rebels, Desmond and the Tutus and Tresor will be some of the artist who will grace the Lusito Land stage. A friendly atmosphere for families as there will be lots to do.

Cape Corner in Joburg

Champions Day Race

All hope will be on Abashiri who will give his everything to win the Triple Crown, at the South African Derby Champions Day Race at the Turffontein Racecourse. Being hailed as South Africa’s richest non-restricted thoroughbred pay day, where almost R11 million will be paid out, in prize money. Patrons are being asked to dress in formal orange and black to show support for Abashiri who could possibly bag a R2 million bonus should he take the Triple Crown.

International Jazz Day

Celebrate International Jazz day at The Orbit Jazz Club in Braamfontein as they launch McCoy Mrubata’s debut album. The launch of McCoy’s debut album is sure to light up the evening. Band members include Jabu Magubane, who will play the trombone, Peter Sklair will be on the saxophone, Bernice Boikanyo on bass and Paul Hanmer will play drums.
