Charterhouse cricket champs

RADIOKOP – Charterhouse School cricketers does their school proud.

The Charterhouse School U11 cricketers have had an outstanding season.

As a team they have played five matches, and remain undefeated.

Star player, Connor Twilley led from the front by scoring two 50s and a 100, managing to maintain an average of 64 in the season. His top score was 152 not out.

Vuyo Bala took 12 wickets in the season, his best figures being seven wickets for five runs in four overs. Yet another true sportsman, Luke Smith took six wickets for nine runs after three overs. Every other member of the team has contributed in some way to the success of the season.

More importantly, the children’s camaraderie and sportsmanship has been excellent. During every game they cheered for their team mates, congratulating good performances while commiserating disappointments. Gillian Houston of Charterhouse said, “It was also heart-warming to see the boys shaking hands with opposing batsman after a good performance without being prompted.”

Houston added that she was very proud of the team and their performance.
