Honeydew Police talks right to the people

STRUBEN’S VALLEY – Police feed important safety information to local commuters.

Honeydew Police in partnership with Roodepoort Leapfrog Property Group distributed pamphlets with important safety tips to motorists on 29 February at the Makro Hendrik Potgieter Road intersection.

The team handed motorists pamphlets with detailed safety tips regarding vehicle-related crimes and commuter safety.

Honeydew Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs explained, “We are here today for a crime awareness campaign that we hope will aid commuters and motorists stay safe on our roads.”

Leapfrog Property Group Roodepoort sales manager Erika de Lange said, “We are in partnership with the police in making sure we continue to keep the community we work for safe.”

Vehicle-related crime tips:

– Be vigilant at intersections and never open your doors or windows to s stranger.

– Do not stop to remove obstacles on the road, rather reverse and drive off in the opposite direction.

– Do not leave items visible in your car or leave firearms in the car, this is against the law.

– Have your keys ready when you approach your car.

– Never leave children in the car, even for a moment.

Commuter safety tips:

– Always try to travel with someone or in a group.

– When travelling from deserted taxi ranks or bus stations, be more vigilant.

– Do not openly display valuables, where criminals can see them.

– Limit your luggage to the minimum and never leave these belongings with a stranger.

– Avoid talking to strangers, trust your instincts.
