GALLERY: Get set, go at Welties
WELTEVREDEN PARK – Grade Rs and Grade 1s get to know their school through running races.
Athletics day saw little Grade Rs and Grade 1s compete in races and meet new friends at Weltevreden Park Primary School on 16 January.
The Grade Rs from Weltevreden Park Pre-Primary came across to the ‘big school’ to run a 60m race against each other. The next races were the Grade 1s that were put into their houses of red, green, yellow and blue. It was a very exciting day for the pupils as many of them took to the starting line for the first time.
Parents and family members had a great experience seeing their children compete in a race. Deputy Principal Karen Bergsma said, “This was not only an event to see who the fastest runners were but an occasion for the Welties family to grow. Parents got to know other parents as well as become acquainted with their children’s teachers.”
