Minibus collides with another vehicle on Ontdekkers Road

NEWLANDS – A woman was seriously injured after her vehicle collided with a minibus on Ontdekkers Road.

A woman was critically injured after two vehicles collided on Ontdekkers Road in Newlands, on 14 August.

Netcare 911 paramedics, its rescue unit and other services arrived at the scene and found that a motor vehicle and minibus were involved in an accident.

The vehicle came to a standstill on its side, against a pole .

The minibus overturned and came to a standstill, also on its side.

Rescue officers had to make use of stabilisers to ensure the vehicles were stable enough to remove the driver.

Upon assessment, paramedics found that the woman driver had sustained critical injuries during the collision.

The injured woman was treated at the scene and transported to hospital for the urgent medical care and treatment that she required, under the care of an advanced life support paramedic.

According to Santi Steinmann of Netcare 911, a few of the commuters travelling in the minibus sustained minor injuries during the accident and they were treated at the scene before they were transported to hospital for further medical care.

Steinmann added that the exact details surrounding the cause of the collision and preceding events are still unclear and will remain the subject of a police investigation.
