Three die after yet another truck accident on the notorious Doreen Road

A tragic truck accident in Poortview injures 12 people and kills three.

An eight-ton truck collided with at least four vehicles after losing control driving down Doreen Road in Poortview in the direction of Hendrik Potgieter Road on September 21, according to eyewitnesses.

The truck, which spilt its contents of milk and other grocery products, was said to have lost control descending the steep mountain road. Johnny Loots from BCI Security was on the scene and confirmed that at least 12 people were injured during the accident.

“Four people were seriously injured and transported to nearby medical facilities,” he remarked from the scene. Later that evening news was released that two Honeydew police officers were fatally injured during the crash along with the truck driver.

“The road was covered in milk, oil, and fuel and had to be closed to traffic while the road surface was being cleaned,” stated Loots.

Three out of the four critically injured patients succumbed to their injuries. Residents have voiced their concerns as this is not the first time a truck has made use of the steep route and lost control.
