Ethan certainly has his head in the game!

Ethan qualified first in the SM Junior 50cc class with a time of 0:51,518 seconds, kicking off this incredibly competitive racing day.

Ethan De Freitas had another fantastic day of racing at the South African Short Circuit Series (SASCS) Round 3 at Formula-K SA Raceway in Benoni Gauteng on May 6.

During Heat 1 Ethan had an incredible start racing into corner 1 holding his first position. Then the race had a serious twist when the marshals flagellated these young riders onto the long circuit course by accident which caught Ethan by surprise. He lost his lead on lap one into the tight corkscrew left turn corner allowing Blake to take the lead. Ethan then had to give chase with Keaton split seconds behind Ethan in third place. Ethan managed to stay in second position for the next two laps and then on the fourth and final lap, Ethan made the pass on Blake gaining his first position all the way.

Heat 2 was an intense and very competitive race between Ethan, Blake, and Keaton for the full six laps, Ethan managed to take the checkered flag securing his second big win for the day with Blake and Keaton right behind with only split seconds between the trio.

Heat 3 was a super close race. Ethan held the lead for three laps with Blake and Keaton battling it out just behind Ethan, then on the fourth lap, Blake made a daring pass on Ethan on the inside forcing Ethan to lose two positions and now had to fight to the finish line with only two laps remaining. The last lap was just as intense as the trio caught up to the back marker.

Blake passed Marnitz on the inside, Ethan had to make a split decision pass on the outside of Marnitz forcing Keaton back into third position. The race to the finishing line commenced with Ethan in second place only 0.230 seconds behind Blake. Blake managed to take the checkered flag with Ethan split seconds behind in second place, and Keaton took the checkered flag in third place ending the third Heat of the day.

Ethan took first place overall for the day with 70 points increasing his lead in the championship in the SM50 Junior 2023 class in the SASCS Series.

Ethan’s next race event will be held on June 24 at the Polokwane Short Circuit Raceway for Round 4 of the SASCS – South African Short Circuit Series.
