Panorama Primary School sprinter among the fastest in the province

Sprinter Sibanye Uyinmwen qualified for the Gauteng Provincial Championships with several medals already around his neck.

Sprinter Sibanye Uyinmwen qualified for the Gauteng Provincial Championships with several medals already around his neck. Sibanye had progressed undefeated throughout the athletics season and was heading into the provincial meet with a smile on his face.

Hosted on what is essentially home soil, Sibanye earned two more medals at Ruimsig Athletics Stadium on March 10 and 11. Competing in the U9 60-metre sprints, Sibanye earned a silver medal but in the U9 80-metre sprints, he proved himself to be the fastest in the province as he won the gold medal.

Summing up the simplistic joy of competing, the young champion said he just loves running.
“I feel scared during the race but when I win I feel very happy.”
