City Power issue Roodepoort outage update

The Roodepoort Service Delivery Centre opened with 667 outage calls from customers, with about 150 of them over 24hrs on Monday.

On Monday, January 9 the City Power Relationship Management Department confirmed that City Power is still attending to several unplanned power interruptions in Roodepoort that plunged many suburbs into darkness since Friday, January 6.

The Roodepoort Service Delivery Centre opened with 667 outage calls from customers, with about 150 of them over 24hrs on Monday.

According to the power utility, repairs have been completed at Glen Lea Substation supplying Fleurhof, Glen Lea and the surrounds and their team will work on restoring power to affected customers.

Repairs have also been completed at Florida Substation supplying Florida Lake, Discovery, Hamburg and surrounding areas.

City Power Spokesperson, Isaac Mangena said that a test branch has been requested to conduct tests on cables, and restoration process will commence once they test clear.

“The power interruption in Stormil will be attended to once Florida Substation is restored.

Our team has encountered multiple cable faults at Christiaan De Wet Substation supplying Wilgeheuwel, Honeydew and Radiokop.

“Our team has managed to restore power at Florida Substation that feeds Mechanical Workshop Switching Station (SWS).

“Our teams in Roodepoort are working around the clock to ensure that power is restored to all affected customers,” said Mangena.
