One person dies in Georgina house fire
Unfortunately, one person had died before the they could be extricated and another person was treated by ComMed Emergency Response and Netcare911 for smoke inhalation.
On Tuesday evening, October 18 Emergency Control SA (ECSA) received a call for urgent assistance for a house fire in Georgina, with reports of entrapment.
According to ECSA Director Ian Janse van Rensburg, on arrival members entered the premises and began ventilation.
Unfortunately, one person had died before the they could be extricated and another person was treated by ComMed Emergency Response and Netcare911 for smoke inhalation.
“We as ECSA would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family and the friends of the loved one,” said Janse van Rensburg,
City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) Spokesperson, Robert Mulaudzi confirmed that around 20:25 on Tuesday evening, October 18 one of their fire engines was dispatched to that fire incident and unfortunately one person died on scene.
Mulaudzi told the Record that the cause of the fire is still a subject of investigations.
“However, City of Johannesburg EMS is still encouraging residents throughout the city to look after any heating devices which might cause fire incidents at home not to leave them unattended while in use.,” said Mulaudzi.
