Motorcyclist dies in Witpoortjie accident
According to a relative that was on scene, the rider was part of the Crusaders MC.
A fatal accident claimed the life of a motorcyclist in Witpoortjie on Saturday, September 24.
Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) confirmed that their officers attended a fatal accident scene at Generaal Pienaar Avenue and Ham Street, Witpoortjie, involving two vehicles a silver Nissan Qashqai and a white Yamaha motorcycle.
It is alleged that the Nissan Qashqai was travelling east on Ham Street and the Yamaha motorcycle was travelling south on Generaal Pienaar Avenue when the collision happened.
The female driver of the Nissan Qashqai sustained no injuries and a female passenger from the same vehicle sustained slight injuries and was taken to Flora Clinic.
The male rider of the Yamaha motorcycle sustained fatal injuries and was taken to the Roodepoort mortuary.
According to a relative that was on scene, the rider was part of the Crusaders MC, the national president of the club arrived to give support to the riders who were with the biker when the accident happened and to his family.
JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla said that a case docket for culpable homicide will be opened at Roodepoort Police for further investigation.
