Local beauty a Mrs SA finalist

For the first time ever, 30 finalists were selected instead of 25.

Local beauty, Tasnim Young-Norris was recently named a Phangela Group Mrs South Africa finalist. Her journey as a finalist along with 29 other powerful women began on July 1 when the announcement was made at the Winter Ball hosted by Emperors Palace.

For the first time ever, 30 finalists were selected instead of 25. Due to the high calibre of the semi-finalists this year, the judges had a tough time narrowing it down, and made the unanimous decision to select 30 finalists.

The judges panel consisted of Jacqueline Ferns, Storm Johnson, Dr Fezile Mkhize, Tansey Coetzee, Mankoana Nhlebela and principal judge Matapa Maila.

The fabulous event started out with a red carpet with the title sponsor, The Phangela Group’s elite security team setting the scene. Emceed by internationally acclaimed Jo-Ann Strauss, the event started with a bang with entertainment by The Muses.

The excitement in the room grew as everyone watched the semi-finalists taking the stage in stunning evening wear. The special event culminated with the independent auditing team, PKF Octagon taking the official results to stage, and the top 30 finalists being announced.

Mrs South Africa is a journey that has gained the reputation of a women-empowerment programme and prides itself on producing the very best in real, relatable and modern South African women. The programme celebrates marriage and the essence of being a bona-fide woman.

As a breast cancer and GBV survivor, a mom, wife, entrepreneur and full-time corporate professional, this opportunity gives Tasnim the platform to create awareness on how women should use their past challenges to develop themselves into stronger, more powerful and resilient women.
