Estate agency goes all out for local SPCA

Sales and rental property specialists begin year-long initiative to support animal well-being

Few things bring a home to life more than the energy of a happy pet.

Breaking the monotony of the morning commute, the RE/ MAX Direct team added colour and flavour to the corner of Hendrik Potgieter Road and Albert Street on April 15. An Easter-themed morning pet food collection was the first event in what will be their yearly commitment to supporting the Roodepoort/ Krugersdorp SPCA.

The goal of the day was to collect dog and cat food from passing motorists, a challenge laid down by the Allen’s Nek-based franchise’s marketing team via social media. The ultimate target for the year will be to collect a total of 1 000 bags or cans of pet food for the area’s SPCA branch, an achievable goal judging by the large flatbed haul from the Thursday morning collection. Donations of cat and dog food are not the only way to donate, as donations via Milmac Foods, the SPCA’s livestock feed supplier, are also greatly accepted.

While the pet food had some staff’s hands full, their colleagues were emptying theirs as they handed out Easter eggs to passing motorists. Not feeling bunny ears would be sufficient, the crew enlisted the services of Scooby-Doo to remind everyone to keep their animals happy and healthy. Straight from the collection, the team jumped into their red, white and blue hot-air balloon and sailed over to the SPCA office to drop off the donations.

“Thank you to RE/MAX Direct for choosing to support us with this year-long initiative. It all goes a long way and we challenge anyone to beat their target,” said Roodepoort/ Krugersdorp SPCA Manager, Mandy Cattanach. “It is always a pleasure to give back. This is the community we serve and we know how special everyone’s animals are,” said the all-round property specialist’s Dealer Principal, Jerry van der Merwe.

Concluding, Jerry added, “We strive for integrity and transparency. Our aim is to make it simple.”
