Welties learners collect school shoes for children’s haven

Weltevreden Park Primary School’s Community Councillors, Muko Matsila, Kayla Adams and Kosi Emekpo ran a charity project that saw them collect school shoes for the Children's Haven.

 

Shoe-drive fundraising has in the past years become one of the most popular fundraising options for schools and clubs of all sizes.

As an incredibly simple and effective fundraising method, shoe drives are a fantastic way to engage your community, set a great example, and raise some much-needed funds for the less fortunate.

St Laurence’s Children’s Haven founded in January 2001 under the auspices of the Roodepoort Child and Family Welfare Society were the beneficiaries of shoes donated by Weltevreden Park Primary School learners.

At the end of a difficult and strenuous 2020, Weltevreden Park Primary School’s Community Councillors, Muko Matsila, Kayla Adams and Kosi Emekpo ran a charity project that saw them collect school shoes for the Children’s Haven.

They got Romans Pizza to sponsor vouchers as prizes, and the winners were all Grade 6 learners at the school.

The Bata School Shoes Challenge was won by Ryley Crocker who took home a R300 voucher, while Hannah Sudbury and Garvey Nteumagne won R100 each.
