Another accident along Generaal Pienaar Avenue

After a previous accident, some called for increased speed control measures while others rubbished those suggestions, saying that drivers should instead improve their own driving habits.

Whether on a middle of the week stroll or in a Friday afternoon rush, motor vehicles along Generaal Pienaar Avenue have a magnetic attraction to one another.

Just before 11am on 13 November, a white Toyota Fortuner struck a white Hyundai Elantra in the intersection of Generaal Pienaar Avenue and Gregor Street. Neither driver sustained any serious injuries but the driver of the Elantra did have a small bruise on his forehead.

After a previous accident, some called for increased speed control measures while others rubbished those suggestions, saying that drivers should instead improve their own driving habits. At the scene today, one onlooker suggested making some of the streets in the area one-way roads, and another floated the idea of closing the crossings at Ham and Gregor Streets.

What do you think can be done to prevent accidents along that strip of Generaal Pienaar Avenue?
