The deserted platforms are haunted by the ghosts of commuters who may not have only lost their primary source of transportation, but the invaluable time the route saved.

A fire gutted what was once the ablution facilities at Georginia train station on Thursday, 15 October. The fire started early in the morning and blazed until there was nothing left to consume. A resident who lives across the street claimed that no firefighting responders were on scene at any stage, with City of Johannesburg Emergency Services spokesperson, Robert Mulaudzi, saying that his department was not informed of the incident.
