TS Galaxy enjoying their home away from home

TS Galaxy have been making use of Panorama's facilities in preparation for the conclusion of the coronavirus-interrupted season.

Straddling the border of Mpumalanga and Limpopo, just 45 kilometres east of Rust de Winter, sits the small town of Kameelrivier. This is the home of the club, TS Galaxy, that has partnered with Panorama Football Club for the past several years to boost the sport in the area and help put our young talent on the map.

The return of domestic football has come as a welcome break from the monotony, and even though local development sides are still grounded, the pros are back in full swing. Wrapped up in the Biologically Safe Environment (BSE) bubble, TS Galaxy have been making use of Panorama’s facilities in preparation for the conclusion of the coronavirus-interrupted season.

Owner Tim Sukazi shared his thoughts on being forced to play the remainder of their games in Gauteng, and the hospitality shown by their host community. “The country is facing a very difficult situation which requires a lot of compromise from all 32 clubs. We would ideally like to play in front of our home supporters at Kameelrivier Stadium, but we need to take all the government health and safety regulations into account,” he said.

“The facilities have been great thanks to the hard work of the venue manager and his staff who always go the extra mile. We are enjoying our stay at the Panorama Sports Complex and in future we would like to see more Roodepoort residents attending some of our games in support of the club,” he continued.

The GladAfrica Championship team is well clear of the relegation zone but will likely fall several places short of a promotion play-off place. The TS Galaxy and Panorama FC partnership has reaped rich rewards with local academy graduates Macbeth Mahlangu and Ethann Brooks making their first-team debuts last week. Panorama FC chairperson, Michael Michael, expressed his joy at seeing youngsters coming through the academy, and wished TS Galaxy well for the rest of the season.

“As Panorama, we are proud to assist TS Galaxy to finish this season. We are looking forward to a bright future for the players and both clubs,” said Michael. Strong results in their final five games can lay a platform to launch a challenge towards promotion to the Premier Soccer League in 2021. “A club of our magnitude is of course looking at finishing higher. With the guidance of the coach and dedication of the players, we are confident of a good finish,” claimed Sukazi.
