Florida Police arrests suspect for theft

The complainant, a doctor, alleged that on 14 April at about 10am, he left his office at Netcare Milpark Hospital to perform his duties. He left his laptop on the table and when he returned, he noticed that his laptop was stolen

A 38-year-old man was arrested for theft at Life Flora Hospital on Monday, 1 June.

The arrest was effected with the assistance of a security company. According to Parkview Police’s spokesperson, Captain Tintswalo Sibeko, the suspect is believed to have stolen a laptop on 14 April.

“The complainant, a doctor, alleged that on 14 April at about 10am, he left his office at Netcare Milpark Hospital to perform his duties. He left his laptop on the table and when he returned, he noticed that his laptop was stolen.

He opened a case at the Parkview Police. The Parkview detective proceeded with investigations and the suspect’s photo was circulated at Netcare hospitals.”

He added that on Monday, 1 June, the investigating officer received a call from Life Flora Hospital, informing him that the security officers apprehended the suspect, who subsequently was arrested and detained.

“Through further investigation, it was discovered that the suspect was driving a motor vehicle that had been reported stolen in Krugersdorp in 2017. A charge of possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle was added.

“The suspect, Jacob Lesiba Marakalala, appeared in the Johannesburg Regional Court on Wednesday, 3 June to answer on charges of theft and possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle. Police investigations are continuing.

Sibeko concluded by saying, “The Parkview Police station commander, Colonel Theledi Gopane, commended the investigating officer, together with the security officers at Life Flora Hospital, for their teamwork and ensuring that the community is protected and safe.”
