Shelters provided for the homeless during lockdown

The homeless can seek the City's help at Windsor West assessment centre in Randburg; Dan Street assessment centre in Florida; and the 3 Kotze overnight shelter and Governors House assessment centre in Braamfontein.

As a nation whose poverty level is higher than most, we see an increasing number of people who do not have shelter during this stressful time.

During the national lockdown, the Government has taken the initiative to provide shelter for all the homeless.

Those living on the streets of Roodepoort will be housed at one of the four schools – Queens High School, King Edward VII Preparatory School, Jeppe High School for Boys, and Parktown Boys High School. The homeless can seek the City’s help at Windsor West assessment centre in Randburg; Dan Street assessment centre in Florida; and the 3 Kotze overnight shelter and Governors House assessment centre in Braamfontein.

If anyone knows of a homeless person who would willingly go to one of these locations for shelter, please contact 083 702 6806 or 083 702 6807, and the relevant people will be sent to relocate them. Residents can also contact the City’s Displaced Persons Unit on 011 407 7274.
