Iron Fist boxing goes from strength to strength

Not only did the club celebrate the competition victories, but also the achievements of seven other boxers.

Boxers from Iron Fist Boxing Club participated in a variety of boxing events, including the popular Arnold Classics, and managed to bag several gold and silver medals.

Kyle Britz, 13, participated in the Gauteng Novice Championship where he graded to the next higher level. He is rated as one of the Club’s strongest boxers.

The club had excellent results at last year’s Southern Giants Tournament hosted at the Turffontein Raceway where club captain Nothile Mdluli,18, won the match two minutes into the second round by a technical knockout.

Thereafter they made their mark at the Arnold Classics Africa Tournament when boxers returned proudly to their club with a bag full of medals.

Not only did the club celebrate the competition victories, but also the achievements of seven other boxers who had the honour of being graded during the Johannesburg Amateur Boxing Union (JABU) Grading Tournament last year.

“Boxing does not only teach them self-discipline, but makes them feel more confident in themselves, and build a healthier body. They will be able to defend themselves in dangerous situations,” said club coach James Britz.

Iron Fist currently has more than 30 members and believes in assisting members of the community to gain fitness benefits and learn how to defend themselves. They are also focused on empowering women through fitness, and to help women get mentally and physically stronger.

“We strive to foster a sense of community and create a space where members can enjoy themselves while working towards their goals,” James concluded.
