The distraught family of the victim, Dustin Davids, claimed the alleged aggressor to be the son of a prominent political figure.

A 34-year-old man from Florida is on the road to recovery after he was stabbed when a well-known man allegedly attacked him at his home on Friday, 7 February.

The distraught family of the victim, Dustin Davids, claimed the alleged aggressor to be the son of a prominent political figure.

The victim’s mother, Beverley, told the Record that the aggressor stormed into their home three times before assaulting Dustin.

“He came to the house twice and the third time with his friend, and injured my son,” she recalled the terrifying incident.

The mother said Dustin was stabbed in his head, which cased his skull to fracture. His ankle was shattered during the ordeal.

When asked about the reason for the attack, Beverely said the pair had a friendship fallout.

The family implied that the aggressor is a feared individual in the community who uses his father’s political stature to bully and get away with his wrongdoings.

This could be attested to as the family claimed that the police officers who attended the scene did not arrest the culprit/s.

However, Florida Police spokesperson, Sergeant Mpho More, who revealed that no case had been opened on the day of the incident, justified the police’s actions.

“We could not arrest the suspect without a statement from the victim or a case being opened,” she said, adding that arresting a person on hearsay can land them in hot water. “If we arrest anyone without proof, we can be in trouble for unlawful arrest and find ourselves facing a civil claim.”

For any investigation to be initiated, More encouraged a witness to the incident to open a case on behalf of the victim, for now.
