WATCH: Boxer athletes crowned King and Queen of Clearwater race
Organised by Panorama Running Club in partnership with Clearwater Mall, the race saw thousands of runners flock to Clearwater Mall to participate in the 10km and 5km race and represent their respective running organisations.
Boxer Athletics Club runners dominated this year’s edition of the Clearwater 10km and 5km Fun Race after clinching major victories last weekend.
Lucky Mohale and Cornelia Joubert from this franchise-owned running club triumphed in the 10km Men’s and Women’s Open races on Saturday 17 August.
Mohale, who finished the race in 00:31:44, became the second male winner in a row from Boxer to be crowned the King of the Mountain, following the victory of his counterpart, Mbongeni Ngazozo, last year.
In an interview, he cited that the race was to prepare him for the Nelson Mandela Marathon. “I came here to test my fitness because I’m preparing for the upcoming 42km Nelson Mandela Marathon, which I believe I’m ready for following this victory,” said the man from Tembisa.
Cornelia, the Queen of the Mountain, finished in 00:38:40, almost a minute ahead of Chrissie Kalmer who finished in 00:39:54.

The beautiful sunny weather played a huge role in bringing in the large numbers, unlike last year’s low temperatures, which affected entries on the day.
The day also featured a number of exciting and healthy activities that were on exhibition at the mall for athletes and shoppers to try out during the course of the day.
