JDA’s fourth consecutive clean audit

The agency was one of four city entities that received the award when the City of Johannesburg hosted its Public Service Day, a day to honour public servants in the City.

The Johannesburg Development Agency (JDA) received a certificate of appreciation for obtaining a clean audit opinion from the Auditor-General for the 2017/ 18 financial year for the fourth consecutive year.

The agency was one of four city entities that received the award when the City of Johannesburg hosted its Public Service Day, a day to honour public servants in the City.

The event, which featured a keynote address from Executive Mayor of the City of Joburg, Herman Mashaba, took place at the Gallagher Convention Centre on Friday, 5 July.

According to the statement released by the City, JDA has successfully completed large-scale infrastructure projects that tangibly improve the standard of living for Johannesburg residents, and unlocks potential for businesses to thrive in strategic area nodes.

It has implemented more than 600 undertakings over every single regulatory district of the City in its 18 years of activity, and has been in charge of leading and conveying the City of Johannesburg’s key tasks since commencement.

Member of the Mayoral Committee for Development Planning, Reuben Masango, said,“The JDA implements capital projects across a variety of programmes aimed at achieving catalysing growth in areas with dormant investment potential. This award clearly demonstrates how the agency is committed to reaching this objective while maintaining good governance.”

One-hundred-and-ninety-one City workers were honoured by awards, some being given the Long Service Award for representatives who have been local officials for more than 39 years, others receiving the Service with Pride grant for workers that have made a special effort to convey extraordinary administration and still more getting the 2019 Best Regions grants, which were won by Region A in the lead position, Region E as runner-up and Region D in the third spot.

City employees who have lost their lives in the line of duty were also honoured during the ceremony.
