#JusticeForLee: Update: Questions about DNA result in another postponement

Defence wants to conduct own DNA tests

The 29-year-old Onke Hartin Mashinini appeared in the Johannesburg High Court again on 18 March, but the case was postponed once again.

Mashinini is the only suspect in the case of missing three-year-old Liyaqat ‘Lee’ Mentoor, who was in his care when he went missing on 16 March last year. His charges includes kidnapping, child neglect, defeating the ends of justice, pre-meditated murder, as well as robbery with aggravating circumstances (unrelated to this case).

During his appearance, he was supposed to receive a date when the matter will be going to trial, instead, the defence requested a postponement, to enable them to conduct their own DNA tests, as they were questioning the original results.

To the dismay of family and friends the case was postponed to 6 May. Mashinini will remain in custody until then.
