Hordes of promising young footballers opted to spend a day of their weekend to realise their football dreams.

These local youngsters who were accompanied by their supportive parents flocked to the Open Day at Education Through Soccer (ETS) on Saturday, 2 February to learn more about the benefits the development club has to offer to promising talents like them.

The day consisted of a training session for the existing and new members on the sports field, among other activities. The owner of the club, Lloyd Tuffney coordinated an information desk where he sold the club’s gear and assisted parents with information about their offerings.

Speaking to the Northsider, Lloyd explained what this Ruimsig-based club is all about. “ETS is dedicated to the development of young players and grass-roots soccer coaching. The goal of ETS is to help players achieve the dreams that they thought were beyond their reach,” he said.

Lloyd indicated that the West Brom coaches would be returning to his club to assist with coaching and developing the children. “We are very excited about joining hands with the West Bromwich Albion Foundation. The coaches are expected to arrive in the country for the first of their two trips within two weeks,” he explained, crossing fingers for the programme to be successful so that they will be able to send the players to West Brom at the end of the year.

In addition, Lloyd shed light on other international trips planned for the year. “We will be sending our U/10 team to Real Madrid for a week. We are also looking to send the 18-year-olds to train at Fulham where they would showcase their skills,” he concluded.
