How do they plan a scheme?

We certainly live in interesting times, and I am not even talking about the changes in the country’s political arena – I’m talking about what is happening on the home front.

And by this I mean the elaborate schemes some people pull for a few bucks, such as the Bitcoin scam.

With Bitcoin being in the news lately for the huge amounts of money that you allegedly gain when you invest in it, it is easy to fall prey, especially if you don’t know much about investing in virtual money and want to grow your existing money in the shortest time possible. Although I am not disputing the fact that there are some investors that have gained and made loads of money, I just sometimes wonder how people come up with these scams.

Do they discuss it during a braai with friends? Or identify a friend or two and plot their plans at midnight when everybody else is asleep? You know – that eerie, dark night with ominous music playing in the background, just like in horror movies? Maybe they saw a loophole in the whole virtual money investing game? Or have they just figured out that some people are more gullible than others? Maybe they decided to throw out the net and see how much money (or people) they could catch in the process?

But, before I am ridiculed for generalising, I know there are people out there who are honest and who believe in the product they sell and who are really trying to help.

This also makes me wonder why I was not born with a deceitful and criminal mind. I could certainly go places with other people’s money that I had somehow scammed. But no, instead I feel too bad to ask for the money I’ve lent someone to be paid back. Oh, the burden of a conscience.

I really feel for the people who have been caught. Times are tough and when you have to lose your life’s savings due to other people’s greed, it’s really bad.

Some people are evil to the core, and there is no way of changing them.

Until next week, be vigilant and take care of one another.

Ciao
