#PelserTrial: More damning detail surfaces

Another expert witness will be called tomorrow.

Before the case was once again rolled over until tomorrow, State Prosecutor Paseki Tameki called the Sergeant who took the statement from Marthinus Pelser to the stand.

Trial Day 7: PelserTrial: Pathologist confident and unwavering under cross-examination

His line of questioning surrounded how a statement is taken and whether Pelser was of sound mind and sober, which the Sergeant confirmed. At the end of his questioning, Tameki asked the Honeydew police member how far a drive the police station is from the crime scene to which he replied “a maximum of seven minutes”. Tameki then asked him if there are any hospitals in the area, to which the Sergeant replied “Wilgeheuwel Hospital”.

Finally, the State Prosecutor wanted to know how far the hospital is from the crime scene. “Maximum five minutes,” replied the sergeant. These questions were important because they would show that Pelser made no effort to rush to the police station if he did not commit the crime, or to rush the deceased to the hospital.

Trial Day 7: #PelserTrial: Pathologist gives graphic testimony (not for sensitive readers)

The State will call the radiologist as a witness tomorrow. The x-rays proved there was no previous abuse.
