Man disconnecting illegal connections electrocuted

Body found in field behind complex.

Yesterday (28 November) a man by the name of Ruan Kruger was found dead in a field behind the Kingsley Park complex in Kingsley Street, Princess.

According to sources the man, who was a resident of the complex, had been watching persons making illegal electricity connections behind the complex for almost a week. When he saw them returning yesterday, he chased them away and proceeded to cut the illegal wire. He did not realise there was a second wire that was still connected and when he attempted to roll up the cut wire, he was electrocuted.

According to VitalMED spokesperson, Tyrone Pieterse, the emergency service received a call at about noon. They dispatched a primary response vehicle and meanwhile initiated telephonic CPR with one of the bystanders. When they arrived on scene they took over from the bystander but after administering advance life support and CPR they had to declare the man dead.

Frik van Zyl of West Suburbs Roodepoort Neighbourhood Watch (WSRN) said the incident was “unacceptable and tragic”.
