Charterhouse teacher summits Mount Kilimanjaro

Charterhouse teacher hiked an average of 10 to 18km a day.

Jen Bull, a science teacher at Charterhouse School has become a role model and inspiration to many of her learners and colleagues after she conquered Mount Kilimanjaro recently.

Jen and her brother, Michael Mocke, embarked on this gruelling journey in honour of their late sibling who died of brain cancer.

The tough five-day climb, which took them to the peak via the Umbwe route, was one of the toughest and most memorable journeys of their lives.

Following months of rigorous physical and mental preparation, these siblings hiked an average of 10 to 18km per day. The duo arrived on 2 September and began the journey the next day. A few days later, they arrived at the peak of Tanzania’s tourist attraction mountain – standing 5 800m above sea level and proudly flying the school’s flag.
