Splash! – The Water Circus put on hold

Awaiting arrival of remaining acts

The official opening performance of the much anticipated Splash! – The Water Circus, left the audience with a feeling of disappointment.

The show’s first performance took place on 27 August at Silverstar Casino, and, according to Refilwe Ntuku, the Business Unit Director of Public Relations at Silverstar, because the show did not entirely meet the audience’s expectations, Silverstar has made the decision to suspend all scheduled performances until further notice.

“The producers of the event will be offering free tickets to all who attended the opening show, should it continue. Patrons will also have the choice of a full refund,” she said.

She added that they were committed to resolving the issues with the producers as soon as possible and apologised for any inconvenience caused.

Matthew Cook, the local producer of the show thanked everyone who attended the opening show for their support thus far. “While we wait for the finalised details of when the remaining international acts will arrive to join the others already in the show, the decision has been made to cancel this week’s performances (31 August to 3 September), to ensure no further patrons are left disappointed,” he said in a recent press release.

However, he added that performances from 7 September until the end of the season on 17 September will remain open for sales. “The moment we know that the artists are literally aboard the plane heading to South Africa, we will get in touch to let you all know that the show is once again open to the public at The Globe at Silverstar Casino,” said Matthew.

He reiterated that everyone who attended the opening show would have the option of returning to see the full show during the remainder of the season.

Matthew said the decision to allow the opening show to go on was made in conjunction with Harry Weber, as there were more than 500 children in attendance, and they did not want to disappoint them on such short notice.

“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused, and assure you that we are working with all the relevant departments to ensure that Splash! is able to reopen shortly,” said Matthew.
