House robber behind bars

Accomplice managed to flee.

Simphiwe Simelane, 32, has recently been sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment for house robbery and robbery with aggravating circumstance.

Simelane committed a house robbery on Crous Drive in Helderkruin on 27 November 2015. He had an accomplice. The two jumped over a boundary wall and robbed the owner of the house who was sitting in his lounge watching TV.

The intruders gained entry by breaking a sliding door with a spade. They then tied up their victim with shoe laces and took clothing and other household items. Metro Police members managed to arrest Simelane but his accomplice fled.
