Food drive in full swing

The Record’s Food Drive was launched last week.

The aim of the Food Drive is to assist needy families in the Roodepoort area to get through winter and generally make life a little easier.

In the current difficult economic climate, more and more people are struggling to make ends meet. The Record is hereby appealing to the hearts of the community to donate any non-perishable item of food. The items will be used to make up food hampers which will be handed out to those who are really struggling. The Record is also asking the community to assist us in identifying those families in need of a helping hand.

Readers can send their requests (anonymous if you prefer) accompanied by a motivational letter as to why a particular family needs help, and the family’s contact details, to roelienv@caxton.co.za.

All we are asking is that you buy one extra tin of food, bag of maize meal, rice, pasta or any other non-perishable foodstuff while doing your monthly shopping, and hand it in at the Record’s office in Witpoortjie. We will then make sure a family in need will have something to eat for a day or two.
