Let’s pay it forward this winter

All we are asking is that you buy only one extra tin of food, bag of maize flour, rice, pasta or any other non-perishable foodstuff while doing you monthly shopping.

In the past weeks, the Record received numerous calls from residents stating that they have fallen on hard times.

Within the current economic climate, more people are struggling to make ends meet. This prompted the Record to hold a food drive and ask the community to donate non-perishable food to be delivered to the Record’s office in Witpoortjie.

We would like to make up food parcels to hand out to those who are really struggling. We also request the community to assist us in identifying families who are in need of a helping hand. Readers can send their requests (it can be anonymous) accompanied by a motivational letter and their contact details as to why a particular family needs help.

All we are asking is that you buy only one extra tin of food, bag of maize flour, rice, pasta or any other non-perishable foodstuff while doing you monthly shopping. Hand it in at the Record’s office and we will make sure a family in need will have something to eat for a day or two.

It is a small gesture to try to make a difference in the community.
