Florida Park Primary’s school leaders

Florida Park Primary School has chosen its school leaders

Florida Park Primary School selected their school leaders for the year earlier this month. The school made the announcement at an assembly to which parents and learners were invited. The selection came after a stringent process during which the learners’ academics, behaviour and leadership qualities were taken into account.

The school decided to do away with mediators and community councillors, combining the two departments into school leaders. Grade 7 Head of Department Mala Lalli was heavily involved in the process.

”We spoke to their Grade 6 teachers and reached consensus about who our leaders should be. The learners were then ranked and the top 30 were chosen. Mrs Naidoo was in charge of the process and she handled it very well,” said Mala.

During assembly the chosen school leaders were called to recite the school pledge under the watchful eye of the principal.

“The learners attend a weekly student leadership programme conducted by Mrs Naidoo. They learn essential skills which will allow them to better handle their responsibilities,” said Mala.
