Update: Alternative routes to avoid congestion around scene

Since it will take a substantial length of time to clean up the scene where a fire truck plunged into five other vehicles, it is recommended that motorists use alternative routes.

They can either use CR Swart Road, turn into Doreen Road and then use Hendrik Potgieter Road. Alternatively they can turn into Christiaan de Wet Road from Ontdekkers Road but go right into Jim Fouche Road before they reach the accident scene. Golf Club Terrace is a third option available to motorists.

Meanwhile an interesting piece of information has surfaced, but it is yet to be confirmed. A credible source told the Record that the fire truck involved in the accident was the same one that arrived late at the accident in which a woman burned to death close to the spot of today’s accident.

There are also conflicting reports as to the number of vehicles involved in the accident and the number of injured. Bystanders said nine people were injured and the Record counted six vehicles, but according to ER24 five vehicles (including the fire truck) were involved and eight people injured. Four of the injured are believed to be fire fighters.
