Breaking: Armed robbery in Helderkruin, seven suspects at large

Police and security company reaction officers are currently (12.41pm on 5 December) at the scene on Gail Street in Helderkruin where an attempted robbery took place a short while ago.

Details surrounding the incident are still sketchy but it is believed eight armed suspects entered the house on the street in question. A woman, her domestic worker and two children were home when the armed robbery took place. When the police and security companies were alerted, six of the men fled in a white VW Polo and another vehicle, while the other two fled on foot. One of the suspects was arrested by an Apcan Security reaction officer at the corner of Wag-‘n-Bietjie and Karee Streets. The seven other suspects are still at large. A police helicopter is currently searching for them.

The suspects fled with a safe, jewelry and other valuables.

Several warnings about a white VW Polo being connected to serious crimes have been posted on social media lately and residents are urged to be vigilant.
