Photos: One dead in four-vehicle accident

A young man died this morning when a small truck collided head-on with his and two other vehicles.

The accident took place at about 6am on Randfontein Road close to the Corlett Avenue intersection. A small truck was travelling from the direction of Johannesburg when it veered into the oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a taxi and two other vehicles. The driver of a Mazda 323 died on impact. Four other people were taken to hospital. It is speculated that the driver of the truck had fallen asleep.

Emergency services were on the scene. The accident will be investigated by the Metro Police.
