Graphic images: Motorcycle dragged 60m after being hit by a truck
Uncertain what led to the accident.
Just before 2pm this afternoon a horror accident involving a truck and a motorcycle took place at the intersection of Generaal Pienaar Avenue and Albertina Sisulu Road in Witpoortjie.
At this stage it is uncertain how it happened but bystanders speculated that the truck hit the motorcycle after it had skipped the traffic light. The truck dragged the motorcycle over a distance of 60 to 70 metres. The motorcyclist’s left leg was severely injured below the left knee. While the Record was on the scene the rider was still conscious while paramedics attended to him. The road has been closed.
Bystanders and residents complained about the intersection and said that trucks often speed through the red traffic lights.
The man was airlifted by a Netcare 911 helicopter.
Metro Police as well as ER24 were on the scene .
