Principal scared of hawkers

Dr Maeko from Witpoortjie writes:

I am a Witpoortjie resident, living next to Princess Park Primary School on Dirkie Uys Street.

I must say this is a good area but the littering of papers coming from Princess Park Primary School into our yard is appalling.

I took the initiative to go and speak to the principal, Mr Sithi, about our discomfort and I was really taken aback about what he said.

The principal acknowledged the problem and indicated that he has been getting many phone calls from the community pertaining to the issue. When I asked him why he had not addressed the issue as children have to be trained not to litter in and outside the school yard, he indicated that hawkers outside his school are the root cause and that he doesn’t want to confront them.
