Despite the police retaliating by firing a warning shot, the suspects refused to stop.
At about 3.30pm this past Monday (10 October) Florida Visible Policing officers were patrolling in Reid Street when they noticed a vehicle that raised their suspicion.
The police stopped next to the vehicle and asked the four occupants what they were doing in the area, but when they could not give a satisfactory answer the officers parked their vehicle in order to search the suspects. But when they got out of the vehicle the suspects sped of and a car chase ensued, during which one of the suspects opened his door and pointed a firearm at the police vehicle behind them. Despite the police retaliating by firing a warning shot, the suspects refused to stop.
The officers asked for backup and the suspects were finally stopped at Helpmekaar Road. The officers found drugs, illegal ammunition and firearms in the vehicle.
The four suspects were arrested for possession of drugs, possession of illegal ammunition and firearms as well as for reckless driving.
