VW Up! for Neema Lalela

Providing assistance to an NGO

McCarthy VW Westgate has partnered with registered non-profit organisation Neema Lalela. They donated a brand new VW Up! to the NPO, which aims to invest in and uplift children and teenagers from less privileged backgrounds.

The handover was done at the McCarthy VW Westgate branch today (6 October) and the children were excited, getting into their new vehicle. Foster mothers Thabisile Ngcobo and Marentina Msibi together with West Rand Lutheran Community Church pastor Jochen Volker were just as excited.

“We want to give them a healthy start to adulthood. We are excited and grateful as it’s been a long journey for us to get where we are. We take care of the children and they are part of the ministry,” said Volker.

Neema Lalela is a social arm of the West Rand Lutheran Community Church. It has a house adjacent to the church property in which the two foster mothers with the eight children live. Neema Lalela together with the church community take care of the physical and spiritual needs of the two families. Most of the children are educated at the church’s Joyland Nursery School & Creche, and Riverbank Primary School. The NPO also take care of two visually impaired children who attend a school in Pretoria.

The VW Up! will come in handy for the many trips Neema Lalela has to make to take some of the children to boarding school every week, as well as the shopping trips, weekly training and support, and other errands the foster mothers make.
