One killed in accident
Unfortunately, after trying to resuscitate him for some time, no vital signs returned and he was declared dead on scene.
One man was killed and two others injured, one critically, after a taxi rear-ended a light motor vehicle on the N1 highway near the 14th Avenue off-ramp.
ER24 paramedics, along with another service found the two wrecked vehicles in the middle of the road. Both vehicles were damaged extensively.
Paramedics also found two men lying near their light motor vehicle. One victim showed no signs of life while the second man sustained multiple injuries, leaving him in a critical condition.
Paramedics immediately initiated CPR and advanced life support intervention on the patient showing no signs of life. Unfortunately, after trying to resuscitate him for some time, no vital signs returned and the man was declared dead on scene.
The critically injured patient was treated for his injuries and provided with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, he was transported to a nearby hospital for urgent care. The driver of the taxi was assessed and found to have escaped with only minor injuries. He was treated and transported to a hospital for further treatment.
It is understood that the two men had been pushing their broken-down vehicle when they were rear-ended by the taxi.
Local authorities will be investigating the incident.
