HVBW celebrate Heritage Day

Blockwatch clean up neighbourhood.

The Horizon View Blockwatch had a Heritage Day cleanup campaign in their suburb. The members enthusiastically cleaned up along the field beside Andrew and Pamela Streets. Blockwatch member Samantha van der Merwe said after cleanup, there was a braai where members shared what makes their heritage unique.

“This helped us to get to know a bit more about each other. Today’s cleanup went well, our bags were filled mostly with glass bottles and tins,” she said.

Samantha added that residents must be proud of their neighbourhood and keep it clean and safe.

“Crime and litter are big problems in our area and we are doing something about it. Driving to work and seeing how dirty our streets are is heartbreaking,” she said.

The blockwatch has been active in Horizon View, organising cleanup campaigns in the community, promoting crime-awareness issues, and providing tips on how to increase home and family safety.
