Streets littered with accidents

Photos: Two accidents happening in two days

There were no major injuries following this morning’s (20 September) accident on CR Swart Road opposite the Wilrogate Shopping Centre.

According to Tjaart Vermeulen from Help24, a white Peugeot was travelling on CR Swart Road when the driver of a Hyundai crossed CR Swart Road from Steinmann Street right in front of the Peugeot, causing a collision. The vehicles were extensively damaged.

On the afternoon of Monday 19 September two bakkies, a Corsa and a Ford, were involved in an accident at the corner of Generaal Pienaar Avenue and Gregor Street in Witpoortjie.

The driver of the Corsa was travelling on Generaal Pienaar Avenue from the direction of Albertina Sisulu Road. The driver of the Ford, who was on Gregor Street from the direction of Trezona Avenue, thought the intersection had a four-way stop and when it tried to cross Generaal Pienaar Avenue, it crashed into the Corsa.

The driver of the Corsa, Alex Dutton, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Krugersdorp Private Hospital by ER24.

Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) was on scene.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accidents.
