Residents might be left in the dark for longer

10 per cent of power restored

It seems that residents of Weltevreden Park will be left without electricity for a while longer, as technicians are still on site working on the cause of the outage.

According to Yumna Sheik, the spokesperson for City Power, the outage was caused by a double cable fault which technicians are working on to get power restored to affected areas.

“So far, 10 per cent of the power outage has been restored, but the remainder can only be restored when full repairs on the cables have been completed. City Power apologises to its customers affected by the power outage for inconvenience caused,” Sheik said.

City Power will keep customers updated on the progress of the situation throughout the day on their website (www.citypower.co.za) and on Twitter (@CityPowerjhb).

“Customers experiencing loss of power can call the City of Johannesburg call centre on 0860 562 874 or log a call on City Power’s website by clicking on fault logging,” Sheik concluded.
