National Kids Take Over The Kitchen Day

Calling all kids and teens on #KidsTakeOverTheKitchenDay

Kids Take Over The Kitchen Day is celebrated annually on 13 September and might sound like a parent’s worst nightmare, but it can actually be a fun and fulfilling day for both young and old.

This day is sponsored by the Young Chefs Academy (YCA) and is a fun movement that strives to empower kids and teens to become more involved in the preparation, planning and cooking of meals. They are encouraged to take over the kitchen and use their favourite recipes to cook for their families, under adult supervision where required.

The YCA is educating the budding masterchefs about nutrition and healthy eating habits, thus actively fighting the battle against the many serious health and social issues related to our youth’s eating habits.

This is not only a healthy learning experience for your child, but also an opportunity to foster a strong family spirit – you might even gain a new regular helper in the kitchen!

To celebrate today, let the kids cook for a change. Search for kid-friendly recipes on the internet and get them cooking!

Use #KidsTakeOverTheKitchenDay to post on social media and share photos of the kids’ efforts in the kitchen.
