#DaggaSpringbok: The Dagga Party of South Africa enters the fray

25 successful stays of prosecution.

An unexpected figure is about to get involved in the so called #DaggaSpringbok saga – the leader of the Dagga Party of South Africa (DPSA)

Jeremy Acton is fighting for the stay of prosecution of those who are currently facing dagga-related charges pending the outcome of a current Constitutional Court case. Now he is on a mission to fight for the former Springbok weightlifter who was arrested at his home in Roodepoort West recently for cultivating dagga. Acton is one of three plaintiffs in the Constitutional Court case of which the defendants are the National Director of Prosecutions, the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, the Minister of Health, the Minister of Social Development, the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, the Minister of Trade and Industry and the Minister of Police.

“There are presently two initiatives challenging the constitutionality of the dagga prohibition. One is the ‘Dagga Couple’ who will appear before the Pretoria High Court next year in September, and the other is already before the Cape Town High Court. This initiative features a large number of plaintiffs, including me, and Ras Gareth Prince, the Rastafarian who challenged the law in 2000, but failed. The hearings began last year on 7 December, and was postponed again on 31 August to 13 December. We are confident that some positive change is going to occur,” Acton explained to the Record.

Acton explained that the so-called Dagga Couple, as they were dubbed by the media, first managed to stop their prosecution in 2011 and that he and Ras Garreth have since done the same. “There are about 25 successful stays of prosecution already granted in various High Courts in the country. Everyone has a right to claim equal treatment before the law in terms of section 9 of the Bill of Rights,” he said.

Acton asked that anyone who is in contact with the accused, or who faces similar charges, contact him on 084 623 3389.

When asked why the DPSA is fighting for legalisation, Acton send the Record the following statement:

“Dagga is the safest, least toxic substance known to humankind, safer even than water, sugar, peanuts, aspirin, and of course, safer than pharmaceutical drugs sold over the counter.

“Cannabis has been shown in laboratory tests and in thousands of case studies to be very effective in treating cancer (although mainstream medicine is in complete denial ) as well as MS, fibromyalgia , arthritis and rheumatism, Crohn’s disease, glaucoma, flu, asthma, depression, diabetes, allergies and many, many other ailments.

“The cannabis seed (hemp seed) is the most nutritious and protein-rich seed on Earth, second only to soya for protein levels, but is more productive, and more easily farmed, and more digestible than soya.

It has a complete range of amino acids for human nutrition and also has balanced omega 3 ,6 and 9 fatty acids for human cardiac and mental functioning.

“Carbon-neutral fuels and biodegradable plastics can be manufactured from the hurds (cellulose interior of stems) after the stem fibres are removed. The fibres of the cannabis plant are the longest and strongest plant fibres on Earth.

“The cannabinoids of the plant positively boost and regulate the human endocannabinoid system, which is responsible for metabolism, the breakdown of old cells in our body, mood, regulation of inflammatory response. They also lower blood pressure and regulate sugars, thus preventing the onset of diabetes. The cannabinoids also prevent Alzheimer and dementia, and Parkinson’s disease in users. All of these are proven, and is information freely available on the internet. All this information, and even the existence of the endocannabioid system have been concealed in medical schools since the prohibition.

“The prohibition is in truth an intentional and malicious anticompetitive conspiracy against humanity by specific and nameable persons in history, and by the corporations in their control, which then have exerted control over governments worldwide via the UN Single Convention on Narcotics.

“Big Pharma would like us to believe that medical research must still be done, but actually this is the most researched plant on Earth, and the information is simply suppressed,” he concluded his statement.
