Empty lampposts a good sign

Almost all campaign posters have been removed

While driving through the streets of Roodepoort, you notice something different but cannot quite put your finger on exactly what it is that has changed.

Then you realise – the lampposts which were still displaying campaign posters yesterday, are almost all empty today.

According to the Outdoor Advertising Bylaws, political parties had 21 days after the conclusion of the municipal elections to remove all their campaign posters, making their deadline 24 August.

It appears that the ANC, DA, EFF and most of the smaller parties have adhered to this law and removed their material. Of the few posters still up, most seem to be from the Freedom Front Plus.

The Record contacted the party’s Gauteng leader, Jaco Mulder, for comment as to when these posters will be removed, but has not received feedback yet.

Let us know if you still see campaign posters up, and tell us which areas they are in.
